This coming Friday, the Yale Pro Musica and Glee Club Chamber Choir will be performing music by Elgar and his American Contemporaries, including several pieces by Charles Ives. The concert will be in Marquand Chapel at 5pm and is free of charge.
Concert: Bach Mass in B Minor
I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to perform Bach with Masaaki Suzuki once again this semester. This time, we’ll be singing Bach’s Mass in B Minor – three concerts in the US, then four concerts abroad in Japan and Singapore. This is my first time singing this masterpiece, and the rehearsals are promising excellent concerts, with solos sung by our very own Yale Voxtet! Domestic performances will be April 26 at 8pm in Woolsey Hall (New Haven), April 27 at 3pm in St. Thomas’s Church (NYC), and April 28 at 8pm in Norfolk, VA.
Concert: Dvorak Stabat Mater
This week, I have enjoyed working both as a singer and a conductor for Helmuth Rilling, famed conductor and early music scholar from Germany. He is nearing retirement, so the thought that I might be part of one of his last masterclasses and concerts is exciting. On Friday, April 19 at 8pm, the Yale Camerata will join with the Yale Glee Club and Yale Philharmonia to perform Dvorak’s Stabat Mater under Maestro Rilling’s baton. The concert is free of charge at Woolsey Hall in New Haven. The stage has been extended – we are quite a large crowd. Ready to perform!
