This coming weekend, I will be joining the Yale Schola Cantorum to perform Haydn’s Harmoniemesse under the direction of David Hill. I am very much looking forward to singing with this ensemble, with whom I performed for the last two years. We will be giving two free concerts this weekend: Friday, 7:30pm at St. James Church in NYC, and Saturday, 5pm at Woolsey Hall in New Haven. No tickets are required; please come!
Concert: From Heaven Distilled a Clemency
This Sunday, I’m looking forward to singing in the Recital Chorus of my conducting colleague, Knox Sutterfield. I will be singing on two big works that are both new to me – Eriks Esenvald’s “Passion and Resurrection” and Tarik O’Regan’s “Triptych.” It has been exciting becoming more familiar with these young composers, and I think the concert will be a real treat! Hope to see you there: 5pm this coming Sunday (April 27) at St. Thomas’s Episcopal Church on Whitney Avenue in New Haven.
Concert: Life Is a Beach
This Saturday will be our final Voce concert for the season. “Life Is a Beach” includes music inspired by water, from Mendelssohn to Gjeillo, Chatman to Esenvalds. Four of my high school students will be joining Voce for a couple pieces, and the choir from UConn will be doing a set. It has been wonderful singing with this group this year, we are excited to close out the season with what is sure to be a wonderful evening. Join us at Immanuel Congregational Church this Saturday at 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased at voceinc.org.
