Next Wednesday evening, I will be joining my orchestral conducting colleagues in conducting the University of Minnesota Campus Orchestras. In fulfillment of my secondary area requirement (orchestral conducting), I have had the pleasure of working with Campus Orchestra Gold for the past few months. This orchestra is comprised mostly of undergraduate students and is a non-auditioned orchestra with a variety of skill levels. Together, we have learned Gabriel Fauré’s “Pelléas et Mélisande,” a lush, 20-minute orchestral suite. It has been a blast working with these students, and I am proud of the music we will be sharing.
